This training has been developed to assist organizations and individuals planning to implement the ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management Systems (EMS) Standard.
The ISO 14001:2015 EMS standard promotes corporate environmental responsibility. It provides a holistic and systematic approach to managing an organization’s operations that have a significant impact on the environment.
Complying with ISO 14001:2015 would strengthen the organization’s legislative compliance with environmental laws and regulations. It also helps an organization to achieve operational efficiency, resources optimization, and waste minimization, as well as developing better relations with the community.
Course objectives
By the end of the course participants will be able to:
- describe the purpose of an environmental management system and explain its importance to an organization;
- explain the purpose and intent of the SZNS ISO 14001 standard and the benefits to organizations using SZNS ISO 14001;
- describe and interpret the requirements of SZNS ISO 14001 and determine conformance of an environmental management system to SZNS ISO 14001 requirements
- establish, document, implement, maintain and continually improve an environmental management system in accordance with the requirements of ISO 14001
Who is the target audience?
The SZNS ISO 14001:2015 course will be valuable for anyone who wants an in-depth understanding of the SZNS ISO 14001 standard. This is the ideal training course for personnel in-charge and responsible for designing, implementing, and managing the EMS. This training is suitable for the management team, managers, supervisors, or anyone involved in system development, implementation, and maintenance.
Evaluation
There are two independent elements in the assessment of participants, both of which must be satisfied for the participants to complete the course satisfactorily.

Continuous assessment
Each participant will be evaluated on a daily basis to monitor performance as well as participation. Participants will get the best results from the course by joining and participating fully in discussions and exercises. Should the evaluation be successful, the participant will be allowed to take the written two-hour examination.

Written Examination
An open book written examination has to be taken at the end of the module. The examination will consist of multiple-choice questions, essay type questions, and scenarios. The pass mark for the examination is 60%.
